Methods for Inspecting Stamped Parts
Touch Inspection
Wipe the surface of the outer cover clean with clean gauze. The inspector should wear touch gloves and touch the surface of the stamped part closely along its longitudinal direction. This inspection method depends on the inspector's experience. If necessary, a whetstone can be used to polish suspected areas for verification, but this method is an effective and quick inspection method.
Wheelstone Polishing
First, wipe the surface of the outer cover clean with clean gauze. Then, polish with an whetstone. Use a smaller whetstone for rounded areas and hard-to-reach areas. The whetstone grit size depends on the surface condition (such as roughness, galvanizing, etc.). A fine-grit whetstone is recommended. The whetstone polishing direction is generally longitudinal, ensuring a good fit with the surface of the stamped part. Crosswise polishing can be added to specific areas.
Flexible Screen Polishing
Wipe the surface of the outer cover clean with clean gauze. Using a flexible sanding net, polish the entire surface longitudinally against the stamped part. Any pitting or indentations will be easily revealed. Oiling Inspection
Wipe the surface of the outer cover clean with a clean gauze cloth. Then, use a clean brush to evenly apply oil to the entire outer surface of the stamped part in the same direction. Hold the oiled stamped part under strong light for inspection. It is recommended to place the stamped part upright on the vehicle body. This method can easily reveal small pitting, dents, and ripples on the stamped part.
Visual Inspection
Visual inspection is primarily used to detect visual anomalies and macroscopic defects in stamped parts.
Gauge Inspection
Place the stamped part in the gauge and inspect it according to the operating instructions in the gauge manual.
Production Issues and Safety in Production
In actual production, processability tests similar to those used in the stamping process, such as deep drawing and bulging tests, are often used to verify the material's stamping properties to ensure final product quality and a high pass rate.
